Usually in ethanol manufacture, it is difficult to avoid bacterial contamination in technological processes of ethanol fermentation. In the ethanol manufacture, nutrient media are a favorable ground for the development of more than 500 different types of microorganisms.
They make a direct negative impact on the consumption of sugar in their own metabolic processes. It results in the loss of primary products, decrease of alcohol yield and deterioration of its organoleptic properties.
Tristan TMA Disinfecting Preparation Baktrilon™ (ТУ У 20.2-32531568-001:2017) is active against both gram-positive or gram-negative microorganisms (including leuconostoc) and fungi. The disinfectant can be used to provide stable processes in fermentation of primary products containing starch and molasses.
The preparation effectively suppresses bacterial contamination practically with no effect on the yeast population.
Baktrilon three-component composition contains a special complex of antibiotic substances and antibacterial agents that suppress harmful microflora in the environment with a longer and better effect than traditional antiseptics.
Baktrilon is recommended to provide the purity of the production process in yeast tanks, yeast generators, and fermenters.
A minimal concentration (0.00005-0.0001%) of Baktrilon is needed to make in an antibacterial impact on the infecting microflora.
Product description
1.1. Tristan TMA Disinfecting Preparation Baktrilon contains a complex of antibiotic substances and antibacterial agents. Baktrilon is supplied in user-friendly multi-layered foil packages weighing 0.1 kg each.
1.2. Baktrilon is produced according to Technical Specifications of Ukraine (ТУ У 20.2-32531568-001: 2017) and supplied in multi-layered foil packages weighing 0.1 kg each. Package content: fine crystalline powder of white colour, which is moderately well mixed with water; precipation is allowed and it does not affect the antiseptic properties of the product.
1.3. Baktrilon is stable at storage. Shelf life is three years. It should be stored in a dry, light-protected place at a temperature of 0°C to 25°C.
1.4. The disinfecting effect of Baktrilon Preparation solutions is based on its broad spectrum of antimicrobial impact on various gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms and fungi. The preparation is active in the pH range from 3.0 to 7.5 and loses its effect at a temperature above 70°C. After boiling Baktrilon is absent in the final product.
1.5. Under GOST 12.1.007-76 (State Standards of Ukraine), Baktrilon is included in the following categories of dangerous substances:
— Category II “A” (Allergen) – by inhalation;
— Category III – by ingestion;
— Category IV – by absorption into the skin.
1.6. Baktrilon is intended for ethanol manufacture from starch and molasses raw materials to prevent bacterial contamination that may occur during the technological process of ethanol production. Baktrilon suppresses bacteria without inhibiting the yeast growth. Baktrilon is added directly to the ready-made sugar-containing wort in yeast tanks and fermenters.
In case of detecting bacterial contamination, Baktrilon can be used both as an operational means to stabilize the technological process and as a preventive agent to block the infection of the yeast wort.
The prolonged action of the agent allows to reduce the level of acidity in the wort, thus increasing its yeast growth and alcohol yield.
Bactrilon is particularly effective in continuous cycle installations.
Recommended usage rates

How to prepare and use a working solution
3.1. Dissolve the product in tenfold the amount of potable-quality water at a temperature not exceeding 40°C.
3.2. The preparation solution is added directly into a yeast tank, yeast generator or fermenter at a rate of 0.5-1.0 g per 1 m3 of wort.
